Welcome to the “MoMMy a Me Series,” a heartfelt journey dedicated to nurturing and celebrating the profound bond between mothers and daughters across the globe. This series is not just a collection of stories but a tribute to the resilience and love that defines these relationships, especially among those who have left their homeland in search of better opportunities.
Inspiration from a Legacy of Strength
Inspired by Caribbean mothers who migrated to America with dreams of a better life, this series sheds light on their struggles and triumphs. My own journey intertwines with the stories of these incredible women, including my grandmother Evelyn and my mother, affectionately known as the Duchess. Their sacrifices and unyielding support have empowered me to strive for greatness, embracing every challenge with grace.
We also honor the memories of Sister Suzette Anderson and Sister Claudette Singleton, whose lives reflect the harsh realities many immigrant mothers face. Their dreams were often deferred by the relentless pursuit of survival in a foreign land, a poignant reminder of the sacrifices made for future generations.

As our parents age, the importance of cherishing every moment cannot be overstated. My recent adventures with my mom in the bustling streets of New York City serve as a testament to the joy and discovery that await when we take the time to explore and appreciate our surroundings together.

Despite growing up in New York City, I realized that like many, I had not fully experienced its wonders. This series kicks off with a delightful day out with my mother, exploring the cultural richness of our city. From visiting the awe-inspiring Giants exhibit curated by Swizz Beatz and Alicia Keys to reminiscing about our years on Eastern Parkway, these experiences have brought us closer and allowed my mother, the Duchess of East New York, to shine brightly in her well-deserved spotlight.

But this series is about more than just day trips. We’re taking our journey to new heights with exciting projects like a podcast feature where my mom will share her wisdom and a spoken word album that celebrates her voice and stories set against a backdrop of captivating music.
